Neighbourhood guide

About The Thonburi riverside: the back story
Across the river from the old city and Charoen Krung, Thonburi keeps a slower pace: Wat Arun on the bank, the royal barges on their canal, the stilt houses of the khlongs, and, downstream, ICONSIAM and The Peninsula.
The temples
Wat Arun, Wat Kalayanamit and the National Museum of Royal Barges are all on the Thonburi bank (TAT).
ICONSIAM
ICONSIAM, at 299 Charoen Nakhon Road, has its own piers; Blue by Alain Ducasse is in ICONLUXE (the centre’s website; MICHELIN).
Cross by ferry: every pier has its boat.
Our advice: hire a longtail to see the canals, then cross back for sunset.
