About Chinatown, Yaowarat and Talat Noi: the back story
Chinatown grew along Yaowarat Road and Sampeng Lane, and its lanes still hold gold shops, temples and street-food stalls. To the south, Talat Noi’s riverside lanes mix old houses, workshops and galleries.
Street food
Urai Braised Goose is on Song Wat Road; POTONG cooks in a family shophouse on Vanich 1 Road (MICHELIN).
Talat Noi
Talat Noi’s lanes run down to the river by River City Bangkok (TAT).
Come after dark, when the food stalls light up Yaowarat Road.
Our advice: take the MRT to Wat Mangkon and walk.
