About Hua Hin: the back story

Hua Hin, on the Gulf south of Bangkok, became the capital’s seaside retreat when the railway arrived; its wooden station is still one of the prettiest in the country. Today it mixes long beaches, night markets and some of Asia’s best-known wellness resorts (TAT).

The town

Hua Hin beach, the railway station and Cicada Market are the classic sights; Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park is to the south (TAT).

Wellness

Chiva-Som, a holistic health resort, is on the beach (the resort’s website).

Come for a weekend: the drive is long for a single day.

Our advice: go by train for the arrival at the old wooden station.
